We started Area Best Heating & Cooling because we believed our neighbors deserved a local HVAC partner who understood mountain living — not a 1-800 number and a technician who's never seen snow above 7,000 feet.
Who We Are
Area Best Heating & Cooling is a locally owned, family-operated HVAC company — husband, wife, and son — serving the Pagosa Springs area for over 20 years. In 2020, we relocated to southern Colorado and fell in love with this community. In 2023, we purchased Area Best from long-time family friends who had spent decades building its reputation. We didn't just buy a business. We took on a legacy.
We're a small crew — intentionally. That means every job gets our full attention, and when you call, you're talking to someone who actually worked on your system. We have in-house fabrication capabilities, so custom sheet metal, ductwork, and specialty installs that other contractors have to outsource, we handle right here.
Mountain HVAC is different. At elevation, heating isn't a luxury — it's critical. We've spent over two decades learning what Pagosa Springs homes demand: high-altitude furnace performance, mini-splits for cabins and additions, ventilation in tight mountain builds, wine cooling systems, and everything in between.
